What Is The Love Of God

Do you Know what Love is?It is God's command to Love,Do you know what the Love of God is?He has called us to Love others the way He has Loved us......It is my heart desire that we discuss the word of God,have our spirit challenge and our minds renewed as we get rid of the lies we have believed as truth and receive his truth.....Based on this, knowing that God does not love like man,he loves like God,and when he shows his love to a man,he expects the man to love others the same way he has loved him..........What is Love?

I thank God for the responses in this discussion on Love.Everyone has made a considerable contribution, the comment by my sister MA,is wonderful,it touched my heart. My brethren, you see,the place i am right now in my hunger for the knowledge of my Lord,it is too late for any body to convince me that the word of God are not really what he meant,it is too late for anyone to convince me that Jesus didn't really mean what he said, and my heart in this blog is to give you that conviction that Jesus meant every word he said and for you to believe it and not try to explain it away.Jesus declares in John 15:12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Some of us have tried to explain these scripture away but it literally meant what He says. The scripture even explains it further...1Jn 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son a propitiation for our sins.
1Jn 4:11 Beloved, if God has so loved us, we also ought to love one another. He loved us by dying to deal with our sin with its old nature, and he asked us to love others the same way.The bible says he commands everyone to repent. Why did Paul say you can give your body to be burnt and give everything you have and still do not have love, why? It is because True Love is beyond that. The world has a disgusting understanding of Love and its a pity that the same understanding has crept into the church unnoticed.1 Jn 4:10 defined Love clearly. It doesn't matter what you are doing to and for your friend, believer or unbeliever,if you are not specifically and directly dealing with their sin and the sinful nature in their life,it is not love before God but stark hatred posing for Love.It shows you don't care for that soul, what if that is the moment God has given you to share the truth and you are busy patting them on the back uttering those lifeless words..."God loves you" instead of showing that LOVE,they leave you immediately and are met with death,God will ask you for their life.Any good work, any so called love, anything that we do that does not deal with the sin and sinful nature in a man ,it is not love,it is hatred. Why do you think they hated and killed Jesus,is it because he hated them or because he loved them, answer this question. Why did Jesus say that men will hate you on the account of him, why, why did he say you will be persecuted, why did he say you should hate yourself. He knew men,he knows that we will devise our own kind of love, the kind that the world will not hate nor persecute because it lies.True Love tells the truth,if you want to showcase true Love, hate yourself, and speak the truth to all men in season and out of season without ceasing not caring the outcome on your life.if you are showcasing a false love for Christ, you are showing people a false christ and you are standing as one of those many anti-christ,do not look far ,if you are seeking the anti-christ,look at yourself and you are a liar and he says that the lake of fire is reserved for liars......Go to Corinthians and see Paul's definition of Love......it doesnt contradict.........Beware and repent and turn to your first love.......May God help us

Love. What a difficult question. Love is one of those concepts in life that we can never trully exlpain. It is a mystery! I really like the comments about God's expression of love for us. Do you notice that even though God loves us he had to express it in active form so that we could somehow get a better understanding of what it is. We can never trully master the definition of what love is since we can never really 'know' God in his entirity! I think as much as sometimes love is emotional and all, it is also an act of the will. I think when we voluntarily lay our will down for our brother or sister, "submit to one another in love", we play out what God demonstrated for us as love on the cross. Surely we don't nail ourselves to a wooden tree everyday for others (it would be wierd seeing pple with mini-trees on their hands or something sayin "i love you bro" while nailing themselves to the 'cross'!" But there are many circumstances in life when we need to lay our will down for the benefit of another. Maybe, just maybe we might tap into what love trully is!

I am so blessed to be reading these comments about love right now. I really need to reflect on these powerful exhortations right now because i'm in my lowly moments and these words could not have come at any other time but now. God is at work on this blog, so keep the fire burning. And may your passion for the "gospel" extend outside of this blog to affect your neighborhoods. Thank you to everyone that commented on the LOVE posting. Thank also to messengermicah for this inspirational thought.God bless you all!!!!
Love from me, your brother in the Lord.

What God did by sending His son is to demonstrate his Love. We will however know how to Love one another, if we get an understanding of God's Love for us.
When God commanded us to love one another as He has loved us in John 15:12. He was not asking us to die on the cross for others just as he did. He knows the things He did and continues to do, and his death on the cross should be enough to teach us about his love and how to love. I will say again, understanding who God is and what He has done for us, is what Love is. Thank you Ndamele, maybe understanding what Love isn't will help us understand what it is.

"Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things"  (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).

Hi brethren, This the edited version of the previous posting of mine...
Of course, He commands us to Love one another as He has Loved us! Yet no one is willing to die for His brother or sister? Before you continue to read my response, please read 1st John 3:16. I agree with ejay that LOVE is absolutely GOD's nature and we must attain this very nature of God, because it is the evidence that we are truely saved. GOD is the creator of love. As a matter of fact, God's reason for creating the world is because of his LOVE. This love concept is so paramount to our growth and walk in Christ that paul pens it first in his description of the fruit of the Spirit in Gal 5:22. Sometimes in trying to understand what something is, it is helpful to know what it is NOT. The scripture says, love does not parade itself, does not rejoice in iniquity, love is not puffed up etc. Some of my scriptural guiding principles on love are mercy, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering, gentleness and forgiveness. Let's all go to God and ask him to show us how to love and since he commands us to, he must have a way to let us know what love is.. Please read the book of 1st John.

John 15:12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
.............If the Love of God is beyond human imagination, why will he ask us to love the same way he has loved us.If we do not know what his love is,if we do not know how he loved us,we cant love others. So the question still remains what is Love.If the uncreated one expects us to love the same way he loves and have loved us,then we should know and explain this his Love excellently and live it..........

Paul said in the book of Romans 8:38-39 "For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, (39) nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." The Love of God for man, is so vast and profound that, it is beyond the imagination of men. God coming to the earth to die to restore us back to himself is a demonstration of how much He loves us. We didn't do anything good to deserve his love but loved us and he still loves us. Even when we have been unfaithful he had always kept his promise and remained faithful. He commands us therefore to Love others just as we love ourselves. All what God has done and continues to do is to show us how to Love. Loving is his attribute, it is his nature. So, what is Love? the Answer is God. Everything about him is Love.
