The Pentecostal Mission (earlier name - Ceylon Pentecostal Mission)
DO PASTORS & APOSTLES NEED TO BE CELIBATES? The TPM denomination claims the following: 1. That apostles and pastors would do better if they remain unmarried.2. That TPM pastors are superior to pastors from other denominations.3. Apostles should not be married or in case they are married earlier they should forsake their wives. WHAT IS THE TRUTH? Dear Brethren, 1 Timothy 3: 5 says, “(If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?)” Thus, God expects the people, especially those who lead and manage congregations, to be married and be able to manage their family. Secondly, Jesus never commanded His apostles to remain unmarried. If He had required that apostles should be celibates, He would have selected unmarried people as apostles. However, Jesus chose married people as apostles. Thirdly, 1 Corinthians 9:5 says, “5Don't we have the right to take a believing wife along with us, as do the other apostles and the Lord's brothers and Cephas[a]? The above verse clearly states that apostles never forsook their wives but instead they took them along. Moreover, Paul the apostle claims, in the above verse, that he has a right to marry as the other apostles did. Fourthly, in 1 Timothy 4: 1, 2 and 3 the Bible warns saying, “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry…” Thus, the Holy Spirit warns that in the last days, false teachers will forbid people to abstain from marriage. Beware of TPM (The pentecostal mission earlier name - Ceylon Pentecostal Mission) which calls marriage as defiling or lustful.
