Hmmm,

this topic has been on my mind for the past week and I believe it is important to address. I agree with Shalom that first impressions are not always correct. We cannot deny that when we meet people for the first time we 'categorize' them and sometimes we are wrong, sometimes maybe right. Human beings are complex creatures. I believe we need to ask God to help us understand that human beings are more than what words can identify. We are people and we must learn not to act too quickly based on our impressions of somebody. We cannot judge and God knew that and its clear even in 1Samuel when God told Samuel to annoint a king, that "Man looks on the outside but God looks at the heart". Therefore, we should ask God to teach us to look beyond the outside and the 'categories' we have put in our heads, to truly know people:Because sometimes the impressions can hinder us from valueing and loving others. It hurts to be put in a box and i admit i've done it myself but when i realise how wrong I am, I thank God that I am able to learn to look at someone's heart!

Also, when we constantly hear a word describing us from other people's first impressions, we must ask ourselves why. It could be differences in culture or other areas. One thing i know for sure is that my first impressions on many people and theirs of me were based on cultural norms and expectations.In cases like this, what should we do? Should we bash people just because our first impression of them was negative?

First impression last long they say. This is true but first impression are not always correct. They can be misleading. Hence there is great need for us to ask God's spirit, the bible tells us that He knows the secret things of the heart, to reveal to us the secret things that we know not. God can really unfold someone to us just like a book. The more we get to know Him, the more He reveals things to us.

Secondly, we should try not to judge a book by its cover; I realised that as disciples of Jesus Christ, we should aim not to judge people and leave that first impression mentality in order to reach the souls of dying people (unbeliever). You cannot reach a person if you think you are better than the person; hence I believe as Christians we should not base our attitude or our approach to people base on the first impression we create on them.

Lastly, who are we to judge people on their first impression are we God? No we are not, hence "judge not" my brothers and sisters. DO as you father God does, who searches the heart and is not deceived by our appearances. Remember the case of David with his brothers?

hai ragione sai. io credo che avere dei pre-giudizi non sia un'aspetto negativo della personalit� di una persona. fin da bambini ognuno di noi viene plasmato dalla famiglia e dalla societ� in cui vive quindi si crea degli schemi mentali. la cosa molto importante � che questi schemi siano flessibili e non rigidi. nel senso che il giudizio che ti fai una persona la prima volta che la vedi, deve poi cambiare quando vieni a conoscenza di quella persona.

in oltre come Figli di Dio dobbiamo sempre farci guidare dallo Spirito che conosce tutti nel profondo dei nostri cuori quindi ci pu� dare un giudizio su un'altra persona che sappiamo essere assolutamente veritiero!

a me � capitato una volta di dare l'impressione negativa ad una persona la prima volta che ci siamo incontrati in quanto era un momento particolare quindi non ho avuto il tempo di esprimermi con quella persona, circa due anni dopo ci siamo incontrati di nuovo e questa volta dopo avermi conosciuta, ha cambiato idea sul mio conto!

per quanto riguarda me stessa, mi faccio sempre un idea su una persona la prima volta che la vedo ma cerco sempre di lasciare un largo margine di errore perch� una persona che pu� sembrarti educato potrebbe rivelarsi il contrario e viceversa!

...quindi la cosa migliore da fare � di lasciarci guidare dallo Spirito!

A Christian is person who received a revelation of Jesus Christ from the father,and saw the sin and death in him,repented,turned to Jesus and was forgiven,received and given the Spirit of Christ.Then he denied himself,carried his cross,and is following Christ daily.You cannot be a Christian ,if you are living for yourself.Jesus said that you cannot be his disciple if you cant deny yourself,carry your cross and follow him and it is disciples that were called Christians in Antioch.

Think about it brethren,if you were told about an easy Christianity,be careful,it is following the Holy Spirit that makes it easy and nothing else.If you said a prayer and you are living for yourself,i am afraid for you,because you are not a Christian,if you do not repent today ,you might be disappointed on the last day.God help us

Those dat know me know wat i've been tru lately but i thnak Him for His grace over my life and for His love cos thanks to Him I have cum to realise i can actually live again..OBviously ti was a process which took months as sum work had to be done internally especially d FOrgiveness side.I want every1 to know that God is there for u, no matter what u have done in the past especially if u have had a broken heart in the past and u taught that even "Super Attack" cant even stick the pieces together..

what is Gospel...

hmmm Gospel for us Christians means the fact that Somebody came from heaven, He left His glory there to come and save us, He died on the cross, He suffered on the cross, His blood was shared to save each one of us! He did all this to give everyone the possibility to find this precious Light, He did that to show His love for humanity. He did that to give ua Life.

the name of that person is Jesus.

Hi Ma and everyone,

I felt like your pastor (my Pastor too) was talking to me as well. The feeling of guilt and sometimes inadequate and non-accomplishment almost ruined my life. I had to deal with these by totally surrendering to Christ. Thank God for His Holy Spirit!!!!! The truth is any time we allow the issues of life to control our being we make Christ's work on the cross non-effective. We feel better though when we confess and surrender all to HIM. Another thing I felt great about was confessing to my brethen, then I had a real breakthrough. WE turn to forget he even says "Come unto me all ye that laboreth and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me...for my YOKE is easy and my BURDEN is light(Matt 11:28-30).

He heals indeed. So let us trust Him at all times!!!!

This is a great topic to discuss because lets face it, our churches are dealing with this whether openly or not. I believe Sin has to be exposed for what it is! One step towards living a holy life, like the others have said, is renewing of our minds. We do this with the help of the HOly Spirit. But let us remember that there is freedom in truth. When we expose those sins, there is freedom in that. That sin no longer has power over you and i also think thats why its so powerful to run to God as soon as you have the urge to sin just like Ejay said.

hi Dare!!! you know I believe that sin is not inevitable for a Christian! Our Lord Jesus, before going back to heaven He left Somebody hear with us: that Person is the Holy Spirit! He is hear to help each and every one to resist the temptation!

sin seems difficult to overcome because the devil knows our weak points and he always knocks on that point ontill we fall!

but if we yield completely to the Holy Spirit and pray always for the Lord to help us and deliver us, by Faith we can make it!

so, none of us here can say "I have never sin" that's a lie!!!

But even though we have sin we can still go back on the wright way, the Lord will forgive us and let us put in our minds and heart to not to go back to what we have rejected!

Brethren,we have to understand that the words we use show our wisdom or lack of it,or rather the deception we have believed but Jesus is always faithful and just to free us from lies.My friend,it is a lie from the pit of hell to say that sin is inevitable,it is a lie we have been told from hell,because it simply means that the cross has failed.We sin because we are either ignorant or we love that particular sin so much.We should be asking,How can i live above sin,Romas 6 and 7 answers the question,we are called to exercise our new birth authority over sin till our mind is renewed to a standard that we could automatically say no to sin.Please we should not believe that sin is inevitable,with such a believe,there will be no room for escape,God help us

Brothers I think you are both right. Sin is only inevitable when we constantly renew our minds. It is the renewal of our minds through the word of God that keeps us in close connection to God and creates in us the fear of God, which the bible says is the beginning of wisdom.

If you fear God the bible says you will shun evil, hence the fear of God is the pathway to death to sin.

Please my friends let us also keep praying for one another. There is a special force in UNITY. The devil is so organized and united with his crew members, therefore unless we are united one to another and with CHRIST, we cannot be free from our lustful desires.

I fully agree with Ejay comment, sin is very difficult not to commit but I realize that when we become Christians we don't longer need to carry our weaknesses but we should leave them all to the cross because there was someone (Christ) who paid for us. I think a basic thing that we Christians have difficulties in doing is to create/maintain a connection with God and that is why when temptation comes we don't know how to handle it. If I can give you an advice, decide today that you will be spending at least a certain amount of time every day seeking His face. Christianity is not only a Sunday thing because there are 7 days in a week and if Satan can not attack you on Sunday he will do it during the week( he is not foolish ). Our life should be centered on Christ. The only thing I asked God this year was His relationship because I know that when I maintain that I can do all things because he is the one who strengthen me

Even though we have the the power of choice, we still need to surrender our will to the Holy spirit and remember we can't do it on our own trying to deal with that thing we are struggling with. We only find it difficult to do what is right because we refuse to surrender that part of our life to the Holy Spirit. God want to be part of our life at all time to help us through our struggle. By this I mean, if you are struggling with lustful desires, tell God about it. Anytime that desire come, talk to God right away that: "God I know this is Sin and I don't want to do it any more, please help me ". Repent!

Friends, God will help us only when we are sincere with him. That shows, we have surrendered that part of our life to him and we're not tryna do it on our own.

Lastly, the devil is attacking youths because we are strong (both to build and to destroy)and we can do exploit for God. If you are to recruit Soldier for a battle, would you want to select old Weak men or Strong Healthy ones?

The devil is not foolish!! He can see our future and knows what God has in plan and purpose for us and does not want any of it to come to pass. We are a threat to his Kingdom.

I Love that this subject has been brought to light because a week ago I was having a talk with God and i was reading Galatians 1. In most epistles Paul deals with wrong theology and a teaching of a different gospel. In Galatians he rebukes anyone who taught a different gospel than that which Paul had professed. The question is however, what is that Gospel. I encourage everyone to dig in their Bibles and see what God says about that. I do agree that the gospel, which means 'good news', is news about salvation. A salvation that comes from repentance and a confession that Jesus is Lord! One thing that i found really interestin is found in Isaiah 61:1-2 (where isaiah prophecies of the messiah,) and Jesus actually identifies himself as the fulfiller of those words, in Luke 4:16-21. Also if you notice, Jesus doesnt finish the verse in Isaiah instead stops at "to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour!" I believe that this was Jesus' mission on his first coming on this earth. Jesus came for freedom, to break oppression from our enemies(satan and sin). As Paul said,when we were sinners we were slaves of sin, but now we are slaves of righteousness. Sin had damaged our relationship with God, people, and the earth but Jesus came back to restore all of that! This Life is eternal! it starts here, life doesn't begin when you die. The gospel is a message of hope and of life; that God chose not to leave us depraved but instead gave himself as appeasing sacrifice for our forgiveness so that we could taste freedom! the freedom he created us with.I think we must never forget how important the gospel is in our lives but also in the lives of those who don't know!

Brother messengermicah, I want you to understand that no body is discrediting your post. This is a wonderful topic and I'm hoping youth leaders on this blog also discuss this topic at their meetings. I also want to apologize if I sounded like discrediting your article. This is an open discussion and it is likely we all don't share the same view on somethings. The most important thing is we both that a better understanding. I believe you have poured your heart out to express your thought and I honestly cherish that. Please don't get me wrong, we point was that gospel is far more greater than what both you and I and everyone here think it is. The interesting thing is that, what everyone said is part of the gospel. Romans 1: 17 Paul said, it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes. That is why we as Christians need to live the gospel and not only preaching it. It is only those who believe and repent obtain the salvation of Jesus Christ. Also I meant open confession and acceptance of Jesus Christ is important but it doesn't save.

Thank you for your comment my brothers.I do not say things because they sound good to say,i say things because the word of God says so.I was awaken to the reality of the gospel which is scarcely preached.And the reason i posted this is because i understood this is for young people who desires to know Jesus like me,now in my service of God ,i do not want carry a theology which i think is of God and on that day my Lord will discredit me.You said you do not agree with my statement "Asking Jesus to come into our heart cannot save us but Hearing the true gospel and repenting",well Jesus or the Apostles never told us that salvation is by asking Jesus into our hearts,that is a theology or method invented by man,if thats the way of salvation,why didnt Jesus or His Apostles say it.Jesus is not a machine that we tell what to do,when we repent and turns to him,He comes in.Repentance means to turn around,if you hear the true gospel and are convincted ,you turn away from the old life to Jsus Christ and he receives you,thats why the bible says that HE COMMANDS EVERYONE TO REPENT,check your bible.Do you know how many that will be disappointed to discover on the last day that they are not saved who thinks they are saved because tey said a prayer?My brother thats what scares me,thats what fears me the most that i brought this discussion that we discuss with the word not our head to know what the gospel is.Matt11:5 shows us that the gospel is specifically for the poor and you are saying that it is giving food,water and clothe,read Romans 1:16,i dont know whether you see what i see there,the gospel is the power of God unto salvation,did you read that,please my brethren,this is not about me,dont get offended with me,Emmanuel is saying thank you instead of giving his comment,as though we are fighting,i do not think that the Lord brought this up just for us to fight over words but to awaken us to think,pray and search.Brethren,cant you see,the gospel is God's power,cant you see ,it is beyond what we have been taught,what is the problem with the church and christianity today,powerless,is it because we do not know and experience this gospel?My fellow youths,this is the cry of my heart,can you guys stop fighting over my words and awaken to the reality of what we are facing.when you go to someone to give them a good news in real life situation,that means the person already acknowledges his bad situation which needs a good news.So the is no good news without a prevailing bad news or situation.You cant tell someone a supposed good news if the person do not know of a bad news,this gospel is a two edged sword,my brethren what is it.Lt us not be lazy in this search,what is the gospel.

I read your initial post asking what the gospel is and the comment and contributions other members posted. In fact, I was amazed by all the the wonderful contributions. As the welcome message on the blog stated, We are not here to prove who is wrong or right but to encourage and enlighten ourselves through the word of God.

You did made a statement a disagree with. You stated "Asking Jesus to come into our heart cannot save us but Hearing the true gospel and repenting". I want to ask you how would you repent if you don't Receive or Accept the gospel?

Asking Jesus to come into your heart (most important, PUBLICLY) by your own confession is a sign of surrendering your will to the will of God and declaring to the kingdom of the devil that you don't belong to them. Jesus fed thousands of people as he presented the good news of the kingdom of Heaven and the saving power of God the father. This made many receive him and accepted even have he had to ofeer them to hear. The gospel is the good news about the ministry, the death, the burial, the resurrection and the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. But there is certainly more than that. It extends to preparing the people's hearts for the word of God. By this I mean, if the people are hungry for food feed them,if they are thirsty for water, give them water to drink, if they are naked, clothe them if they are sad, comfort them. This is all part of the Gospel.

What would you do if you didn't have the fear of failing? well... from my view, my dreams would look overly exaggerative and unrealistic to anyone who gets to know about them. They wouldn't make sense to any one but only me. Now,... whether they come to pass or not would depend if it's the will of God for me and the determination and commitment I dedicate to the dream. I don't fear about failure, right? So, why shoudn't I think anything is possible to achieve? The dream will certainly not come to pass if it is not the will of God for me or I am not determined and committed to it. Psalm 37: 23 says: "The steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord. Though he stumbles, he will not fall. For the Lord upholds him with His hand. (Please read Psalm 37 if you haven't). God will give us the grace to accomplish our dreams and what We want to do for him only if it is his will, and it is not self-centered. Mind you, even what we want to do for God might not be want He is requiring from us. Might be that even when you've been able to minister to the whole city of Seattle in songs and preaching, many will start praising you instead of God. Remember He doesn't share his glory!!

I believe that MA didn't just ask this question for his/herself but for us to have a chain reaction of meditation and rumination on this subject.When we give our lives to christ,old things are passed away,all things become new.Our ambitions prior to salvation becomes obsolete not minding how good they look,now it is no longer about me but about him.I am bought with a price,i am no longer my own.Shalom,i believe understanding this is important,we will cease from our struggle and strive to fulfill destiny but to follow the master.I have never heard of a slave that have an ambition apart from to do the will of his master.Jesus also said of himself that he has come to do the father's will.it is natural for human beings to want to be in control,but becoming a Christian,you lost that right,that is why he said,if you want to follow me,deny yourself,carry your cross and follow me.Deny your human capabilities,yourself,everything that Micah can put his name on,should be abandoned.Thats an impossible life,thats a life of vulnerability,a life of absolute dependency on the Holy Spirit.Have you heard of Kenneth Hagin?After 16 years of pastoring,the Lord Jesus came to him and says that his ministry starts that particular day,he was shocked and asked the Lord,"what do you mean Lord,i have been pastoring for over 16yrs" and the Lord said to him,it is not recorded in my book,i never told you to become a pastor,you chose to do that,i never asked you to do that.There were miracles,signs ,deliverances,wonders,salvations but his work was not recorded in heaven cos the Lord never commissioned it but the Lord was confirming his word thats why he saw miracles and such things.My friends,someone said that Christianity is not hard but impossible,until we come to that point that we agree that it is an impossible life to live,we will not experience the working of God in our heart.It is no longer about me and you but about him.There is this analogy i feel will explain better;if you have a massive shop,well know known and you are very ambitious and are planning to spread the coast of this shop but then it happens that you couldn't pay back your loan to the bank and they are coming to close up and take over all that belongs to you including the shop;when that is done ,you are left with nothing.A wealthy man comes,buys everything you own and with the proceed you pay the bank and that still leaves you bankrupt.But this man gives you back everything to manage for him.What happens now,do you manage it as you like as you did yours or will you manage it different as someone's.All those dreams you have when you owned it,will you still be entertaining those dreams or will you only entertain the dream of the new director.Will you plan on the financial proceeds of this business as u used to or will you leave that to the owner.My friends,you are bought with a price,you are no longer your own,nothing you have is your own,be careful that you are not caught up in mens traditions and teachings that do not have root in the word of God,may the Lord open our eyes in Jesus name,Amen.If the new shop owner wants to make use of your old dreams,he is the one that decides not the old shop owner.He has the absolute right now.

Messengermicah's comment is good and goes straight to the point, however, I believe the vision and dreams that you cultivate ae installed in you by God (prior or after conversion). Nevertheless, I believe (especially in my case) when you get to know God He shows you a clearer picture and what previously seemed faint and perphaps dirty now becomes clear and benefits the body of Christ.

In my own life, even while still in faith, I often cried because I didn't know the will of God for my life and this made me confussed and led me to take 'wrong steps'. But of recent I noticed the truth about the word of God in Prov. 3:5 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding". This made me to understand that my previous step of trying to do things my own way would never work or will lead me to self-destruction. I believe God is very protective of His children, hence He tries to direct our paths; even when we fall or have failed He tries to get a way back into our heart (note the word tries, because we have a will, he gives us the choice, He does not intrude into our space if we don't want Him there). I can truely certify to the claim that "But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, That shines brighter and brighter until the full day" (prov. 4:18).

Lastly, the word of God tells us that Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.� (Psalm 119:105), which means that our lives and decisions (visions and aspiration included) are illuminated by the word of God; hence my sister take your time to know what God is saying to you, and don't be in haste in making your dreams come through, let the Holy Spirit led and direct you. Remember one wrong step taken can have a detrimental effect on your future. Therefore, as a song writer rightly says "why dont you leave your future to the one that knows the future?".

This is interesting.There is a huge gap b/w selfish ambition and God's eternal purpose.When we start following Jesus,it ceases to be about us but about him,We are no longer our own but we are bought with a price by the Lord Jesus,He becomes our master and we serve him.So the question of our dreams and visions,the dreams and visions we have before salvation ceases to exist no matter how humongous they are,now we take up the Lord's desire and eternal purpose,and this doesn't give us the same to do or not to do apprehension and attitude that our selfish ambitions gives us.We should beware of the flesh,it can do good things for God that will never be recorded in heaven.My brethren,if God has commanded ,who is man to stop us from stepping out,step out if he has spoken and see his hand fulfilling and confirming his word.

The purpose of this question has been greatly defeated because there have been numerous diversion from the core purpose of the question. It is a simple one and nothing as complicated as we have made it to sound; it should end up in being a war but rather a reflection on understanding this mission stand for; which is the life of God which abides in us as believers, pentecostal (the Holy Spirit in us) and the great commision of all christians to preaching the good news.

This should have been our main focus and not the wedging of war that I see above.

Be careful, i'm NOT asking as to to pervert or dilute the Gospel but preach it to all men. I hold the Holy scriptures as the infallible word of God and I beleive you do too, but I just do it differently. I thank God for the guys to first preached the gospel to me, if they had done it the way you and I are going about now,i would have resisted it outright. Let me give a little background about me. I was born and a muslim...This last statement is enough to tell you whom you might be talking to. I also now know that I became a christian by faith through the work of the Holy Spirit, who produces His fruit in us. This is very profound, isn't it? But having come to the knowledge of the truth, I have studied the scriptures and have had very great appreciation for the first century christians in several areas. The one worth noting is God giving them SPIRITUAL GIFTS for the purpose of expansion of His kingdom. I still beleive God to be the same yestaday today and forever. Listen one more time. I am not easily swayed by the philosophies of men. I have traveled quite a bit and anywhere i went, before I subscribed membership to any local church i first read their FAITH, VISION and MISSION statements to make sure they are in line with scriptures. I'm not trying to persuade you to agree with my basic principles in life but I want to assure you that in my present local church, nothing matters but the GREAT COMMISSION and this is very important!! James says, faith without works is Dead, and this is not at odds with Rom 3:28 however. And it is through visions that a body of believers can carry our their humanitarian mandate, which James calls works. Paul says, he plants and Appollos waters but God causes the growth. Messengermicah, sorry if I misunderstood your last remarks but I was troubled a bit when I read your response that you " belong to local church but are not moulded by it". I'm concern that the spirit of pride might getting hold of you. And we can all help you in prayer. Submitting to authority (apostolic covering) is very important. If you wish to have this communication on a personal level I am available to help. You are my brother in the LORD. Or if you wish to have the difference between the words MISSION and VISION i will be glad to help to.

That is the problem my brethren.The little knowledge i have is that of the scriptures,i'm obligated by conscience to speak the word i know or rather it will be sin,what i say is what the scriptures say,not men's opinion.There is no place in the scriptures that it says that God gives some men personal detailed revelation apart from the one great commission given in the scripture.Letters to the seven churches,each church was to read the several letters to other churches,the Lord addressed vital things that has to do with the church.I belong to a church but my point is,i refuse to accept anything that is not God's revelation even though it is generally accepted.The Lord Jesus gave one mandate only to the the disciples that walked with him.When paul came on scene,he gave him the same mandate,not a different one.Now you will tell me there are people given the mandate of the word of faith,right?Thats a misunderstanding of the word of God. You seem to have a Godly insight to many of the discussings we are having so far,yet you may be misunderstanding some of our panelists' questions. This may be evident in the very nature of your responses to general questions that seem to have no merit for attack. I urge you read closely and try not to make your responses personal.

The question shalom asked to me is simple. Every Bible-believing body of believers, also called a local church, which is a part of the universal body of Christ, has "the great commission" as it's main mission. However, through his infinite wisdom, God has given certain leaders a detailed VISION, which is orchestrated through the members in their fulfilment of a particular God-given purpose in that community. In infact, it is through your vision that you get individual members fulfill the great commission with the help of Holy Spirit, who leads us to all truth. Remember, every local churh's vision must be in line with great commission. Hopefully, I have answered some of your questions or concerns.

For the purpose of this forum, no one is obligated to answering or responding to any questions they have no knowledge of. Haven said that, I also urge all of us to try and put out more generic/stimulating discusions so that everyone can contribute. I Hope you belong to a local church. Zoe -is the eternal life of God that Jesus gives to everyone who receives him.

Pentecost day -was a Jewish festival which was a shadow of the reality which was in Christ.On that day Jesus was glorified in the heavens and the Holy Spirit descended.So the word itself is obsolete for us as Christians,the disciples where not celebrating Pentecost rather locked away waiting on God,the ones that where celebrating Pentecost called them drunk.So the Israelites should use the word Pentecost while we should experience and live its reality which is the Holy Spirit,every little thing matters to God in this our kingdom race.

Mission-Go ,preach the gospel to all creatures,make disciples of all nations.

Jesus said in (John 10:10)...I have come that they may have life, and have it in abundance. The Greek word for life used there was ZOE which is The very life of God. And that is my point,there is no different church but one church.There are no different churches that stand for different things in the church,the church stands for one thing and one thing alone,to preach the gospel to all creatures and make disciples of all nation,do we understand what this means?Jesus says that if we cant deny ourselves,carry our cross daily and follow him,we cant be his disciples.Are we preaching the gospel and teaching people to deny themselves,carry their cross and follow Jesus daily?What is the gospel?What does it mean to deny ourselves,carry our cross and follow Jesus?We don't even know what this means,this is Christianity and Church,this is what we should be asking to know.Do not demarcate the body of Christ.Paul says that you say i am of paul,i am of Apollos,i am of cephas,i am of Christ,are you not carnal?Paul tell us that all the demarcation we see in the body of Christ based on personalities is the work of the flesh not the work of God's eternal purpose.Thats hard to swallow but its the scriptures,may God help us.The scriptures is for reproof,correction etc...

MessengerMicah, I agree with you but what I was trying to say is different; given that this forum is designed for members of the church (this does not mean that your presence here is not appreciated), it will be good for people to know what the church stands for and to know what our drive is.

I believe we should know the position we occupy in the body of christ as a whole; this is what the question is pointing out, not exhalting this particular church but to raise an awareness in members to research and know what we stand and believe.

I did not say i do not know it,i said i am not a member of this church denomination but a member of the body of Christ which have but one commission.Zoe,pentecostal,Mission is not the Great commission by the way,the great commission is to go and preach the gospel to all creation,the question remains,what is the gospel.My friends,you guys might not like the way i talk but i will keep saying this,youths,you have to awake to the reality of the Gospel and the word of God.God never gave a command apart from the one in the word of God.We don't even understand that scriptural command but many are running with another command.Matt 15:6b,read please,i am not here to discuss the traditions and commands of men,i am not here to discuss what men have said about God but what the Living word through the scriptures is saying about God.My dear youths,honor your fathers in the faith but do not end there,go to the cross and receive the living word daily,if your spiritual father had lied to you,which will you choose God or him,honor men but honor the living word with your life,on that day the Lord will not ask you what men told you but what you did with his living word.I have come to realize that i am afraid of the truth,there is nothing good in me (flesh)and thats why i am afraid of the truth,so that drives me to the cross daily.the question is WHAT DO WE UNDERSTAND BY THE GREAT COMMISSION,GO AND PREACH THE GOSPEL TO ALL CREATURES ?

My sister,you express your love for Christ by living for him ,and you live for him by loving the brethren,and you love the brethren by living your life to see Christ manifest in their life.It is important that we explain the word rightly and not use the veil in our heart and our experience to explain the word of God.Haven't you read in your bible,that perfect love casts out all fears,and we have that perfect love if we have the Spirit of Christ,check yourself if you are still in the faith,if you do not have this Spirit of Love.We are not called to live for ourself,we have no right to ask God to help us with our motivations and dreams cos if we are truly saved,we dare not have one but HIS'.Most of us today are full of selfish ambitions which are things we intend to do for God.Why not accept it,you are dead,it is Jesus living in you,stop living for yourself,start seeking his will to live for him and the things of this world you need will be given you.Any man that has a fear of failing a fellow man is in deception,that person is deluded,that person has refused to retain the knowledge of God in his mind,he or she should repent (turn away from that) and satan will leave you alone.Turn away from selfish ambitions and the demon of fear will leave you alone.How do i know if i have selfish ambition,if i have the apprehension and fear of failure,simple.If the visions and dreams pomps me up when i think about,when the dream and vision clearly portrays my name instead of Jesus,when it puts me above my brethren instead of brings me to my brethren.I might say something that might sound controversial but if you read the new testament very well you will prove me right,even the desire to be rich is sin,it is a selfish ambition.I will give you one example,Jesus himself says that you should not worry about the things of the world that the sinners seek after them,but you should seek,desire only the kingdom of God and any material thing u need per time will be given to you.We need the knowledge of the true gospel,this is the reason i asked a question about the gospel and encouraged all the youths to start searching,if you have a glimpse of the true gospel,it will change your life,it will radically ruin your life for eternity for Jesus....Did i make some sense?If not please correct me brethren.....

I suppose another aspect to add would be that we could ask God to help us in our motivations. So that fear should not be our primary source of motivation because it can be a double edged sword. As to doing things because you fear failing someone you love, i believe that God made us not only to love him but to love one another. I dont see how loving someone else would be contradicting loving Christ. Infact loving our fellow man is loving Christ! I am not saying that loving others should replace our love for Jesus, but good golly should we never forget that Christ expects us to love one another too!

The whole concept of fear of failing ourselves,God,family, friends and whatever is NOT from GOD. Fear is indeed a "dream thief". The bottom line is whatever we set our eyes and minds to do and there is fear, we should question our motives first, then go back and make sure that's in line with scripture. If it is, and I hope it should, then ask God for courage. In fact, to be biblically correct I should rather say, " we ask the Holy Spirit to help us". Remember, my brethren, there is an adversary who wants to make sure you do not fulfill you call. The bible says , " the thief cometh but to kill, still and destroy..". Therefore, while there may be fear of all sorts, they should not stop us from doing what God has called us to do. I know ejay might still be unsatisfied but that is the cold truth. This is rather the problem, the reaction of others to our efforts. While fear could be a motivation for others, it is also a deterrant to some.. We should all agree that ALL sorts of fear is no good, except the fear of the LORD!!!

UHm... wat I can say is dat it can be gud and bad.. Gud as in it can be encouraging in regards to u quitting but it can be bad when related to u being scared to make a move in life cos u r always thinking abt the negative...wat if I fail...Y NOT think abt the wat if I actually take this step and it actually ends up being sumthing dats benefitting??

Besides..in Psalm 27Verse1 lets us understand that With God by our side we really shoudnt be afraid of anything..cos really and truly God wouldnt lead us to the road of destruction.

fear that prevents people from fulfilling their aspirations......what aspiration..selfish ambition or the purpose of God.We are telling personal experiences that inhibits the word of God.You do not separate yourself unto God because of fear of failing him,that is fallacy,you separate yourself unto God because thats what he has called you to do and not fear of failing him.There is only one fear,the fear of God,open the book of proverbs and see what the fear of God does to a man,there it says that the fear of man is a snare,a trap.When you are afraid of failing in an aspiration,failing your family,failing people,its the fear of man,it traps you away from God to this earth.We have to make the scriptures our experience instead making our experiences to explain scriptures.A motivation that comes from the fear of failure is the flesh at work and the Lord says that it profits nothing ad useless.The only motivation should come from the holy spirit and the living word of God-Jesus Christ.When you have the fear of failure on an issue,there is 99.9% possibility that it is not of God,because when God speaks,his word sustains you and fear dries away.Ejay,you said guarding something in order not to loose the trust of someone you love,who is that?Is that person God?Are you living for that person of for Jesus?Thats the main reason Jesus said if you do not hate your family,you cannot be my disciples because it is in human beings to please each other.You are not your own,you are bought with a price,you are a slave of Jesus Christ,instead of pleasing your master ,you are worried about pleasing someone who is not your master.Go and read about the slave trade,slaves do not have personal ambitions but to serve the master.Paul,John called themselves bond-servants of Jesus,that is an acute slave that doesn't demand freedom from the master.Why are we only given personal answer that inhibits Christ,where is Christ in all these fear,if you are saved,you are not your own,stop living for men but for Jesus.if im wrong again,please let me know

messengermicah, I really think you misunderstood my question. You are talking about the fear of failing men or pleasing men instead of God and that is not the concept. It's more of guarding something so dearly or making an extra effort in other not to loose the trust of someone you Love. Does that makes you a people pleaser or a carnal Christians? I don't think so! As Christians, we carefully watch what we say, what we do, where we go, in other not to disappoint or fail God. Even though his grace is sufficient for us. Now tell me how different that is from being afraid to fail the people we Love. Now... Fear on the other hand could enwrap people and prevent them from making an effort towards their aspirations. This is the kind of fear we need to ask God to liberate us from if we have it. I call it "the dream killer fear".

My comment is that fear of failure is a good thing because when you are afraid to fail you are able to push yourself even further into your goal. An example I can give is about how I play soccer. Sometimes I have goals to prove to my team that I can be better then what I am already, so the fear of failing is the one that pushes me to make sure I achieve my goal. On the other hand fear stops some people from achieving they're goals which I understand but I think its our job to help and give advise to our brothers and sisters who hold back on they're goals because of fear. I guess maybe the question here is addressing the reactions of fear. The way Im understanding this, sometimes when we are afraid of failing people we love, the fear becomes a motivant for our good. I think the problem comes when fear stiffles you and makes you not do what God wants from you---robes you of your purpose. But i, especially, get highly motivated to finish or do stuff when there is a fear of failing people that i love so in this aspect i understand what Ejay is saying. My comments are most of the time misunderstood but that will not discourage me from giving comments that will help us adjust as we learn from from each other.Reading the above post carefully you will understand that it is all about me as an individual instead of God.What if I fail instead of asking for the Lord's concern.What if you fail in what?In life?Are you still living for yourself?if you are ,then you are bound to live with fear forever,are you still living to please men,then same way fear will taunt you.But when you are saved,you are no longer your own,you are bought with a price,you are called to live and serve the purpose of God in your generation not to live and serve your ambitions and the desires of men for your life.If you understand this and apply it in your life,you will be free from fear,fear will just leave you alone automatically,when it comes you tell him,you are late,i am no longer mine,i am dead,it is Jesus Christ.

1Co 6:20 for you are bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.

1Co 7:23 You are bought with a price, do not be the slaves of men.

Our problem is we want to hear things that will soothe us instead of the help we need brethren.This is the reason why he said that he hasn't given us the spirit of fear because that fear reigns in the old man.If you read the post above,you will realize that the life example that given above is a person that lives for himself and to please men instead of living for Jesus.The song writer said that his fear is his courage while the scriptures says that the joy of the Lord is my strength.

To answer your question.....Such fear is unnecessary when we are living for Jesus,the fear is a sign that we are claiming to be of Jesus but are living for ourselves,in essence we are robbing and cheating him,we are wasting his grace and not making use of the eternal life we have claimed to have received.Think about it brethren...please..If i misunderstand your question and answered it wrongly,please tell me...

messengermicah, you are indeed a model christian to me!!!!. I have no doubt in my heart that you will inspire all of us on this blog. I don't thing you offended anyone in the first place. I was just concern,given the fact that this is a new thing we are trying and most of our audiences are youths of different levels of spirituality. You have in fact, gained my admiration and I have spoken of you to many of my friends and all was good.

Hi brethren,

I beseech you all by the mercies of God to put an end to those endless bebates which do not edify. I'm getting inpatient at some of our comments and i thing we will need to all exercise restraint when responding to discussions. The purpose of this forum to edify one another with the word of truth and not to debate on theology, which does not save.

I want to encourage each and everyone of us to focus on the questions being asked and not deviate to other irrelevant issues.

A Church, is NOT a building anymore!!!!!!!!. Furthermore, we are not to criticize any particular christian denomination. Brethren, that is not our place. Use your Bible to defend what you believe and don't condemn what you don't know. While some of these denominations may have embraced false teachings, I am sure there are very devout and spirit filled catholics as there are evangelicals or pentecostals.

Therefore, when you get the opportunity to minister to anyone make sure you know what you believe and what their beliefs are. And if their beliefs are not inline with scripture, then as the spirit leads, go ahead and CORRECT them in LOVE using the scriptures. Remember, GOD is not divided, neither is He the author of confusion. We all believe there are doctrinal issues with certain denominations yet we need to be careful in rebuke so as not to frustrate the workings of the spirit because it is He who actually convicts the heart of man and not us.

Emma,i did not condemn you,i said to you that you can feel God's presence in a house because he is there for the believers who are walking with him are there too.I did not say you cant feel the presence of God.I have experienced that again and again because people that are walking with him are there.But feeling a presence in an empty building will not be the presence of God,it is the people that carry his presence.Thats my point.Catholics believe the Holy Spirit too,there are millions of Catholic charismatics the same way you have true pentecostals,but their systems and practises are totally not of God.So there is no really difference between the two church.If we truly want to see the true church,we should open our bible and search and you will realise that what you will see in your bible,you have not yet seen on earth.

I think the question still remains the same, whether you

believe the church is the people or the building. What are the differences

between the Catholic belief and the Pentecostal belief? I don't know about the

Catholic belief so I can't say much about that, but the Pentecostal belief is

inspired by a personal encounter with the Holy Spirit. We believe the Holy Spirit

teaches us about the deep things of God. He is our Helper our Comforter and Counselor.

It is the Holy Spirit of God who has made it possible for us to have a

relationship with our creator while we still live on this earth. We believe our

Salvation is through Jesus Christ as Lord Himself and has nothing to do with

her mother Mary. Catholics believe salvation came from the virgin Mary.

yes my brother,we are saying the same thing but you have a slant that goes out of context,what you are saying about what Jesus did at the temple is in context with what he said following that,they are together,so you should not use what he did out of context with what he said.God does not live in a building,if there is a presence of God in a place,it is because there are some people there that walking with God and they came in there with him but if you walk into an empty place and say you felt the presence of God,it is not the presence of my God but another presence (Satan deceives too).He does not dwell in a house built by man but in the spirit of man.

messenger micah, I was not talking about what you said about the 3 day of the temple which represent the body of Jesus, I fully agree with that. I was referring to the passage I quoted which has a different context and has nothing to do with what you are referring to. Let me tell you, if you have never felt the present of the Lord when you enter into a building or in certain places, then I think you are really missing a special thing. I am not referring to any denomination conviction when saying this things but messenger micah when I pass through some certain places I always feel the present of the Lord and this places may not be a church but a street. My brother,if you read the bible very well,you will know that a building does not have anything to do with the Church.After he was angry,they asked him who gave him authority,and he said,"...destroy this temple and i will rebuild it in 3 days" and they were angry and said that the temple took 40yrs or so to build and you will build it in 3 days?,and the bible went on to say that the temple he was talking about was his body.Now the temple he got angry at was the old testament temple of Judaism which was only a prophecy of the body of Christ.Is that too hard to accept my brother,its a plain statement Jesus made himself,it is funny you said i am putting something into the word of God,God forbid that i do such a thing,what will i gain from that,you are the one that quoted the scripture to me (i do not quote scriptures here so that he that truly wants to know will go and search for themselves and then bring up a discussion) and i went further to show you a part of the scripture you didn't quote which explains what i was trying to pass across to you.If you read your bible very well you will also see it written that God does not live in a building made by human hands,so his church is the people he is building,you read Paul say to the Corinthian church that they are the temple of the Holy Spirit,not a house built by man,a house built by man is useless if Christ is allowed to build his church as he said.My brethren,please remove your denominational cap,throw it away,i mean cast it away and put on the word cap and let us reason from the word and learn from the word.If we do not let the word judge(correct ) us today,it is this same word that will judge us when we stand alone before the judgment seat of Christ-the living word on the last day.In the example you gave,you took scriptures out of context to prove your point but it is wrong,you do not dare do that with the word of God my brother,please that is a scary thing to do with the word,please never do that,it does not help your life,present the word of God in context and it will be easy to believe.If only we will be on a topic,search through the scriptures till we come to a conclusion and agree on the scripture,i believe we will be learning from each other than saying we should stop,then what is the essence,are we afraid of the truth?The question our sister asked is what led the discussion to the stage where it is right now,why do we want to give up instead of accepting the truth.Do we hate the truth?Do we truly believe that the bible is the inspired word of God,the sure word of prophecy? The example you have given has nothing to do with the example I gave .The one you gave referees to the body of Christ and I agree with you but the example I gave is self explaining. You can not put your interpretation into the word of God to fit things your way, Jesus was angry because people were selling and buying in the temple which in that era represent where God present was. You cannot neglect that the present of God can not be felt in certain places and not only in ourselves because that means that the present of God can't be felt in any physical place. God remains everywhere we allow his present to be. I think if you agree with me to continue our discussion aside this forum, so that we will not loss the focus of the topic that our dear sister posted.

My dear brother Emmanuel,this is the new testament and not the Old testament.If you have read further in that same scripture(or another place of the same incident),they asked him who gave him authority to do what he is doing and he said to them,"destroy this temple and i will rebuild it in 3 days" and the bible went on to say that by the temple he means his body.Now Emmanuel ,you can see that the temple is his body,the body of Christ.The same way he got angry at that physical temple is the same way he is doing with the present misunderstanding and misuse of his name in what we are building today and are calling it his church.Now you see what i mean,Emmanuel,a building is not a church,true living stones being built together by Christ is the true church of God.I didn't say that the building represents a part but it doesn't represent the church at all,the building does not have its importance at all if the true church is not being built,the building is useless to God if the true church is not being built as Jesus has said.As a matter of fact,through out the new testament,no where was it mentioned the need for a building for the church,Are we not selling things in his temple today?We sell his blessings with our obsolete tithes and offerings,are we not selling the supposed revelations we received from God to other Christians (through books and messages-even though he said freely you have received,freely give),have we not turned the church into a money making machine;we are told how we can be rich,build empires,shake the world,financial prosperity and security,all manner of buying and selling going today in the body of Christ except becoming a House of Prayer for all nations.May God open our eyes

messenger micah, it is true that the church is not meant to be rapresented only as a building but the figure of the building has its own importances and if you look both in the Old and New Testament you can see that the figure of a building has his importance. In Matthew 21:12-13 Jesus got angry with the people that were selling things in the temple and he said \"My house will be called a house of prayer, but you are making it a den of robbers\". If he called it his house that means that the temple has its importance.
